![]() ![]() The goal of the rate limit is to protect your activity from any unintended use or to avoid an unexpected increase in the numbers. If the number exceeds the limit the rate limit error is triggered. The rate limit is the number of API calls that you can make within a period of time. It is not related to how many emails are sent but how quickly they’re sent. You need to know about this error as it plays a role when you send your emails. Rate limit error is related to Gmail API. Google, as per their program policies, may disable your Gmail account permanently if you don’t check your Gmail email address for a period of nine months. In the case of disabled accounts, you will get your account reactivated by Google in 24 hours. When you use the Gmail for mobile app in Google Sync mode, the same sending limits apply as when you use Gmail in a web browser. Moreover, when you associate non-Gmail addresses with your Gmail account, the original account’s message limits are applied. You can always verify email addresses before adding them to your mailing list. This happens when email addresses are nonexistent or broken email addresses that bounce back as failed delivery. Google may temporarily disable your account if your sent emails bounce back or if you send a large number of undeliverable emails. If you surpass the limit, your account may be suspended for a day with the error – “550 5.4.5 Daily sending quota exceeded.” This also includes emails sent through or servers. If you access Gmail via POP or IMAP clients, you can send an email to a maximum of 100 people at a time. We recommend that you do not cross your Gmail email sending limits as it may hamper your domain reputation and decrease your email deliverability. Note that if the Gmail email sending limit is surpassed in any way, then your Gmail account may get temporarily suspended. Send mass emails without exceeding the Gmail Sending Limit Beware of account suspension! (Note: Gmail BCC limit per day – All addresses in the To, CC, and BCC fields are included in the count of recipients per message and hence an addition in anyone the given fields will affect the daily recipient limit) In extreme cases, you can send 1 email to 5 recipients including CC and BCC to cover all 2000 message limits and 10000 recipients limit. So, if you send 2000 individual emails to individual 2000 recipients then you can’t send a further email to the remaining 8000 recipients because you have reached the message limit which is 2000. G Suite(Google Workspace) work accounts are used for business purposes where individual email addresses are considered in every mail sent 10 emails sent to 20 addresses count as 200 recipients. Messages per day – 2000 and recipients per day – 10000. For example, you can send 1 email to 500 recipients or 10 emails to 50 recipients each. With the Gmail account, you will get a 500 limit, either emails or recipients. There is no limitation to the number of Cornell addresses (that do not forward externally) you send to in a 24-hour period.However, there is a small difference between Gmail and G Suite accounts. Be aware that Cornell email addresses that are set up to forward to external addresses count towards this limit. If in a 24-hour period, you send messages to more than 300 external recipients (that's 300 combined over however many messages you send in that period), we will block your account for suspicious activity, and you will not be able to send or receive mail until you contact the IT Service Desk. ![]() Using Google Workspace through an email client, the maximum number of recipients for one message is 100. Using Google Workspace's native (web-based) interface, the maximum number of recipients for one message is 500. This includes executables that have been compressed (zipped) into files such as. Google does not permit sending or receiving executable files (such as files with names that end in ".exe"). Please note that the process of adding a file to a message increases its size (by adding encoding necessary for transmission), so if your file is almost 25 MB, you may get a "too big" error message.įor larger files, use your Cornell Box account, or an external service like Google Drive. The maximum size of a Google Workspace message is 25 MB, including all attachments. Below, we've noted changes or additional limits managed by Cornell.
